Asus has released the ROG Phone 6 and 6 Pro gaming phones with Qualcomm chipsets. Now, the Taiwanese mobile phone vendor has released a variant of the ROG Phone 6 with a Mediatek chip, Asus ROG Phone 6D and 6D Ultimate.
This is the first Asus ROG phone series to rely on a Mediatek chipset. The addition of the letter "D" on the two new phones indicates the code of the chip it uses, the Dimensity 9000+. This chip is a very new for MediaTek product that was launched last June with 4 nm architecture.
In general, the specifications between ROG Phone 6D and ROG Phone 6D Ultimate are not much different in various aspects. One of the differences is in the aspect of internal storage, because the Ultimate variant has support for larger storage.
Asus ROG Phone 6D and 6D Ultimate Specifications
The Asus ROG Phone 6D and Asus ROG Phone 6D Ultimate come with the same design as the ROG Phone 6 series.
The backs of both phones are equipped with ROG Phone's signature accessories. However, the Ultimate variant is supported by a PMOLED panel ROG Vision screen. The ROG Phone 6D is only decorated with the ROG logo with RGB LEDs.
The front display of the two phones is also identical because both are equipped with a 6.78-inch OLED screen. Asus embeds a number of screen technology support such as 10-bit color depth, 165 Hz refresh rate, and HDR10 + support like the ROG Phone 6 series.

The 6D Ultimate edition
On the hardware, the ROG Phone 6D and 6D Ultimate are powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9000+ chip which is an octa-core chipset with a clock speed of up to 3.2 GHz and a Mali-G710 MC10 GPU.
The Dimensity 9000+ on the ROG Phone 6D series is combined with up to 16GB of RAM and 256GB or 512GB of storage.
The durability of these two gaming phones is supported by a 6,000 mAh battery with 65 watts of fast charging.
Asus also includes a capable cooling system on the ROG Phone 6D and ROG Phone 6D Ultimate. But specifically for the Ultimate variant, Asus provides a cooling system called Portal AeroActive on the back.
This system accommodates a direct cooling path to the phone's internal components, when the phone is paired with the AeroActive Cooler 6 accessory. Asus claims this practice will dissipate heat much more efficiently, resulting in better sustained performance. Turning to the camera aspect, the Asus ROG Phone 6D and 6D Ultimate rely on three rear cameras like the ROG Phone 6 series.
The camera consists of a 50 MP (f/1.9) main camera, a 13 MP (f/2.2) ultrawide camera and a 5 MP macro camera. This gaming smartphone also offers a selfie camera with a resolution of 12 MP.
Considering that the ROG Phone 6D and 6D Ultimate are still the "family" of the ROG Phone 6 series, users can use the same accessories, such as a cooling fan accessory to keep the phone temperature stable.
